PREDICTION

Many of today’s discoveries are predicted in the Koran.
One of the predictions about space journeys is MIRAJ,
or the Stairway to Heaven.

During the night of 27 Rajab, the Prophet Mohammed, peace and blessing be upon him, was sleeping at Kaaba (on a carpet at his cousin’s place). He was awoken by a voice as loud as a trumpet, “Awake, thou sleeper, awake.” When he opened his eyes, the Prophet, peace and blessing be upon him, saw the Archangel Gabriel wearing a magnificent white shining robe embroidered in gold and pearls. Standing next to him was a beautiful steed with radiant wings. It was Burak (which means “Thunder-Lightening”), who could move at the speed of a glance.

The Prophet, let Allah bless and greet him, mounted Burak and along with Gabriel was instantly transported (al-Isra) to the north, to Mount Sinai, where the Almighty appeared to the Prophet Moses, peace be upon him. Here Allah’s Messenger, let Allah bless and greet him, prayed and then flew on to Beit-Lahm (Bethlehem), to the place where the Prophet Jesus was born, peace be upon him. And here again, the Prophet, let Allah bless and greet him, prayed. Then he traveled to Jerusalem and tied Burak to the ring where other prophets had tied him. Here in a Remote Temple, Allah’s Messenger, let Allah bless and greet him, met other prophets, among whom were Abraham, Moses, and Jesus, and performed jamaat-namaz (collective prayer) with them as imam (the supervisor of prayer). After that, Gabriel brought him two vessels, one of which held wine, and the other milk, and when the Prophet, let Allah bless and greet him, chose the milk, Gabriel said: “You took what corresponds to nature, and so you and your commune will be guided in the straight path, but if you had taken the wine, your commune would have been led astray!”

As he came out of the temple, the Prophet, let Allah bless and greet him, saw an illuminated heavenly stairway descend from the sky, and he immediately ascended it to Heaven (al-Miraj). There he saw Adam, the Father of Mankind, and the Prophet, let Allah bless and greet him, greeted him, and Adam responded to his greeting and affirmed the verity of his prophesy. And the Prophet, let Allah bless and greet him, saw a multitude of people to Adam’s right. These were joyous souls, and when Adam looked at them, he laughed. To the left was also a multitude of people. These were ill-fated souls, and when Adam looked at them, they cried.

In the second heaven, the Prophet, let Allah bless and greet him, saw John and Jesus, the son of Mary, peace be upon them both, and greeted them, and they responded to his greeting, affirming his prophesy. During his journey through Heaven, the Prophet, let Allah bless and greet him, met Moses in the sixth heaven and Abraham in the seventh heaven, peace be upon them. He greeted them. They responded to his greeting, affirming his prophesy. The Prophet, let Allah bless and greet him, saw a heavenly al Kaaba (dwelling house), a Lote-tree of the utmost boundary (Koran, Surah “Star,” LIII: 14), the petals of which were the size of an elephant’s ear, and the fruit as big as immense jugs, and not one of Allah’s creations is capable of describing the full degree of its beauty. Then Archangel Gabriel and the Prophet, let Allah bless and greet him, approached the Most Almighty at a distance of two bows’ length or even nearer (Koran, Surah “Star,” LIII: 9).

On this wondrous night, the Most High imposed a mandatory daily fivefold namaz on the Muslims, which will be counted as 50.
